Jan Amsberry was chosen as February Artist of the Month by Village Art Club members during a recent meeting. Her colored pencil piece "The Antique Oil Lamp, Pitcher and Sunflower" was designed by colored pencil artist Paula Leopold. Amsberry said in a news release that she has painted since 1997. "My favorites are colored pencil and watercolor. Paula was an excellent instructor. There just aren't enough hours in a day to do all I would love to do," she said. Amsberry's painting will be on display at Coronado Community Center, Hot Springs Village, through mid-March. Viewers can see how the artist used colored pencils to create an antique copper finish that resembles an oil painting. Submitted photo
