Mount Ida triumphs with big final quarter

Reagan Jones scored 11 fourth-quarter points and Hannah Vines six to lift Mount Ida's varsity girls to a 67-58 conference victory over host Cutter Morning Star Tuesday night at Eagle Fieldhouse.

The win improved the Lady Lions to 4-16 overall and 2-9 in conference play while the Lady Eagles fell to 1-18 and 1-10, respectively.

CMS led 16-7 after the first quarter but was tied, 28-all, after Mount Ida's 21-point second quarter. The Lady Lions exploded for 28 points in the fourth quarter, which CMS began with a 42-39 lead after a 9-3 run.

Lyndsey Crutchfield scored 19 points to lead Mount Ida, followed by Jones with 16 and Vines with 10.

Kesa Atlas scored a game-high 22 for CMS. Demi Bratton added 14 points and Tori Lantz 12 for the Lady Eagles.

HSJH-Fairview girls

CAMDEN -- After holding Camden Fairview to 7 points at home in their first meeting, Hot Springs' junior girls won the rematch 46-16 Monday night, improving to 13-1 and 5-0 in 5A-South.

Imani Honey scored 15 points, giving her 27 in two games against Fairview. Other scoring leaders were Kiah Beauford with eight, Trinitee Nevels with five and Keindia Nevels, Faith Tucker and Nya Moody with four each.

Hot Springs plays Magnolia at home Thursday, the eighth-grade boys' game starting at 5 p.m.

Lakeside-Arkadelphia JH

ARKADELPHIA -- Lakeside's junior girls improved to 14-6 overall, 2-1 in 5A-South, with a 31-27 road victory over Arkadelphia Monday night.

Melissa Perrigo scored 10 points, Gracen Blount seven and Lindsey Davis and Thea Rice six for the Lady Rams, who outscored Arkadelphia 9-3 in the fourth quarter after trailing by two.

Lakeside's eighth-grade girls won 19-10, improving to 12-2. Ashton Patrick scored 12 points and Lindsey Davis four for the Lady Rams.

Lakeside's junior-high teams play Malvern at home Thursday.

LHJH boys-Bryant

BRYANT -- Lake Hamilton's junior Wolves earned a hard-fought road win over Bryant 33-26 Monday night. The Wolves led 17-14 at halftime, outscoring the Hornets by four in the second half.

Sabby Vinson led Lake Hamilton (9-8, 2-1 Central Arkansas Junior High Conference) with 10 points. Juan Jackson added seven points and Ethan Wascaster six for the Wolves, who host Benton Thursday night.

CMS-Harmony Grove JH

HASKELL -- Cutter Morning Star's junior Eagles blanked Haskell Harmony Grove in the third quarter, leading to a 40-18 victory Monday night at Daniel Henley Fieldhouse.

Leading 12-7 after one quarter, CMS held a 21-12 halftime advantage and outscored the Cardinals 11-0 in the third quarter.

Nathan Treat led the balanced visitors with 10 points, Steven Atlas adding nine. CMS took on Mount Ida in conference play Tuesday evening.

F. Lake JH-Magnet Cove

MAGNET COVE -- Fountain Lake's junior boys withstood a fourth-quarter comeback from Magnet Cove for a 37-27 victory Monday night.

The Cobras (8-9) held on after leading 32-14 through three quarters. Parion Johnson led balanced Fountain Lake with 10 points.

Fountain Lake's junior girls outscored Magnet Cove 7-0 in the first quarter and won 31-20. Makayla Wilson paced the Lady Cobras (12-10) with 15 points, Isabelle Baker adding eight. Fountain Lake travels to Ashdown on Thursday.
