Hall slows Wolves at home

LITTLE ROCK -- Little Rock Hall handed Lake Hamilton its first conference road loss and took over second place in 6A-South with a 52-43 triumph Tuesday night at Cirks Arena.

Hall took advantage when Lake Hamilton leading scorer Quan Gipson and starting center Jason Burks picked up third fouls in the second quarter. The Warriors led 23-15 after a 15-4 second quarter and 37-24 starting the fourth.

Gipson scored 15 points to lead the Wolves (14-5, 4-2). Burks and Samuel Scott each scored 11 for Lake Hamilton, which plays Hall at home Feb. 17.

Dayton Artis led the Warriors (14-6, 5-1) with 23 points, including 16 in the middle quarters. Eric Daily added 11 points.

The first-place Hall girls outscored Lake Hamilton 35-17 in the second half of a 62-37 victory, making the Lady Warriors 6-0 in conference and 14-6 overall.

Alex Murray led Lake Hamilton (5-14, 1-5) with 14 points. Shakyla Hill led the Lady Warriors (14-6, 6-0) with 27 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals and three blocked shots, and Terralynn Dominick added 20 points.

Lake Hamilton begins a three-game homestand Friday against El Dorado, Texarkana and Sheridan visiting Wolf Fieldhouse next week.

Fountain Lake-Waldron

WALDRON -- Fountain Lake withstood Waldron's second-half comeback for a 45-44 road victory Tuesday night.

Waldron, 3-6 in Class 4A-7, trailed 29-18 at halftime and 39-31 after three quarters.

Sam Crutchfield, scoreless in Friday's home loss to Malvern, had a game-high 16 points for Fountain Lake (10-10, 5-4). Dustin Black added 10 points and Parker Ross nine for Fountain Lake.

Brady Wadkins led Waldron with 14 points, Cody Fanick adding 12.

Waldron won the varsity girls' game 50-44, pulling within a game of Fountain Lake for sixth place in the conference with a 2-7 record. Bailey Womack scored 18 points and Pearl Lee 14 for Fountain Lake (9-10, 3-6).

Fountain Lake plays at Nashville on Friday, its next home game Tuesday against Mena.
