Sage advice from Lee

Dear editor:

In the discussion about the Confederate flag, I would suggest that a prime source should be the advice of Gen. Robert E. Lee. He made two pertinent comments.

"Fold it up and put it away."

In a letter he also said, "Madam, do not train up your children in hostility to the government of the United States. Remember, we are all one country now. Dismiss from your mind all sectional feeling, and bring them up to be Americans."

Sage advice then and now.
