City officials will accept applications until 5 p.m. March 20 for seven volunteer advisory group positions.
Applicants must be registered voters of the city, unless otherwise specified. Board and commission members are appointed by the Hot Springs Board of Directors and meet at City Hall, 133 Convention Blvd. Applications are available on the city's website or in the city clerk's office in City Hall. The openings include the following:
• Airport Advisory Committee, one opening. The committee assists the airport manager and city manager in the development and review of airport operating policies and procedures. Meetings are held at 4 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month.
• Animal Control Advisory Committee, three openings. The committee assists the Animal Services Department in evaluating policies and procedures, including public education efforts concerning responsible pet ownership and meets as needed.
• Community Development Advisory Committee, one opening for residents who live in board of directors District 2. The committee evaluates and establishes operating policies and procedures for the CDBG Entitlement Program and meets at 1 p.m. the first Thursday of the month.
• Transportation Advisory Committee, one opening. The committee assists the board of directors and city staff in establishing policies for the city's public transit system and public transportation issues of a general nature. Meetings are held as needed at the Transportation Depot.
• Urban Forestry Committee, one opening. This committee promotes, protects, and enhances the beauty, environmental benefits and general welfare of the city's urban forest. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month in the Engineering Department Conference Room at City Hall.
