A Hot Springs woman was arrested Tuesday and charged with three counts of second-degree forgery, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail.

Vanessa Taylor Brown, 20, who listed a 1332 Shady Grove Road address, was later released on bonds totaling $11,500. She is due in Garland County District Court March 17.

Officer Thomas responded to a fraud at Crawford Pharmacy, 107 Crawford St., and when he arrived, officers had Brown detained in the parking lot. Brown was attempting to fill an allegedly fake prescription from a doctor in Malvern and had two other confirmed false prescriptions from another doctor. She was then placed into custody.
