'Alive' to be performed on Arlington Lawn

Partners of the Park and community churches will present the Eighth Annual Easter Celebration on April 4.

This year's drama, "Alive," will be presented at 10:30 p.m. April 4 on Arlington Lawn in Hot Springs National Park.

Originally labeled "Son-rise at Cedar Glades" and held on top of the mountain at Cedar Glades Park, the Easter Celebration committee recognized that an easier-to-find location would better serve the community. The play re-enacts the last week of Jesus of Nazareth.

Christians see Jesus as their Messiah, the Son of God, who came to save the world of their sins and opened the door for life eternal in paradise (the Greek word for beautiful garden). The production plans to transport the audience back in time as the story unfolds on the highlights of the last week of Jesus' life in Jerusalem. Viewers are to experience the struggles, pains, suffering and grief that many followers and supporters of Jesus experienced as he completed his ministry on earth.

Combining narration, music, liturgical dance and actors in period costumes, this celebration re-enactment portrays the highest moments and most significantly impacting events in man's history, the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as seen from those who were there. It is an original drama based on the gospels of the New Testament, written by the Rev. Fred W. Hunter, and narrated by the Rev Dr. Lacy Sellers.

The talented volunteers that act, sing, and dance, as well as the sound and stage techs from throughout the community seek to offer an entertaining account of the original Easter story.

Seating is limited. Viewers should bring lawn chairs or ground cover. Everyone is welcome.
