Akansa presents DAR awards to nine students

Akansa presented DAR Youth Citizenship Awards to nine students. Recipients were Kaylee McAdoo, from Mount Ida High School; Ryan Graves, of Mountain Pine High School; Stephen Benson, from Jessieville High School; and Juliet McDonald, from Jessieville High School; Lynley Dean, of Jessieville Middle School; Brandon Stovall, from Oden High School; Grace Cole, from Murfreesboro High School; Brad Mount, from Kirby High School; and Brooke Thomas, of Fountain Lake High School.

A medal and certificate is awarded to each of the winners who is a student in grades five through 11.

Honor, service, courage, leadership and patriotism are the qualities of the recipient. Each winner is selected by school administrator, teacher or counselor.

Only one student per grade per school is eligible.
