Shop Small Saturday at Temperance Hill Square and enter to win prize

Saturday is Small Business Saturday, a day created specifically for small businesses like those located in Temperance Hill Square. "This year, don't just shop small for all of the great deals you can find, do it for the businesses you love, for the community you call home, and for the money you will stay in the neighborhood when everyone Shops Small. This Nov. 28, get up, get out, and Shop Small," according to the release.

Small Business Saturday is an encouragement and reminder to shop small. Small businesses provide 55 percent of all jobs in the U.S., and they have provided 66 percent of all net new jobs dating back to the 1970s.

While making shopping plans for Saturday, make sure to put Temperance Hill Square on your list of stops. Throughout the day, the shopping center will host a Shop Small event called #THSShopSmall. To enter the Shop Small contest, just follow these easy steps:

1. Come to Temperance Hill Square, 4332 Central Ave., and Shop Small.

2. Take a selfie while shopping. You can take a photo of the business sign, the owner or employee, or your purchase.

3. Share the photo or photos on Facebook.

4. Use the hashtag #THSShopSmall when posting the photo.

The morning of Nov. 30, the winner of the #THSShopSmall event will be announced on Facebook after all photos have been posted. The winner will receive a $100 gift card to any business located in Temperance Hill Square.

"To select the winner, we will search the #THSShopSmall hashtag, review the photos to make sure there are no duplicates and that they are valid photos taken at Temperance Hill Square, then we will use an online random name picker to determine the winner," said Sarah Duch, who oversees marketing for Columbia Property Management, Temperance Hill Square's property management company.

"We want to give everyone an unlimited number of entries, but each photo has to be unique. Any photo that is duplicated will not be entered more than one time," said Duch. "Shopping at small businesses has a huge impact on the local economy and we are trying to encourage shoppers to spend a lot of time in the businesses located in Temperance Hill Square, because not only does it help our retailers, it boosts Hot Springs' economy!"

One study reports that for every $100 a consumer spends at a local business, $73 stays in the local economy, compared to just $43 that stays local when spent at a business that isn't locally owned. That $30 difference adds up fast. So remember to Shop Small on Saturday and the rest of the year too!

Remember, Saturday is Small Business Saturday, so make plans to spend the day out shopping and supporting the local Hot Springs businesses. And document your Temperance Hill Square experience in photos so you can win big, too, using Facebook and hashtag #THSShopSmall.
