HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- After the severe ice storm of 1999, a small group of Hot Springs Village residents thought it would be nice to find a way to thank each of the POA employees whose work so directly impacts the quality of life in the community. From that seed of thought, the Village Employees Benefit Fund was grown.

The VEBF is money raised through donations by those residing within the Village gates. Donations are combined to establish the fund, and then distributed to make sure every one of the some 450 employees is remembered during the holiday season with a gift card and personal thanks from Village residents.

In 2014, with donations ranging from $10 to $500, it was possible to give each full-time employee $95, and each part-time employee $45. With help, and greater participation, organizers hope to increase that amount this year and give each employee just a little more.

Residents can send a Christmas gift check of any amount, made payable to the Village Employees Benefit Fund, to P.O. Box 8503, HSV AR 71910.

"This is a way to give holiday cheer and show appreciation for the people who make sure Hot Springs Village is safer, cleaner and more beautiful throughout the year," a news release said.
