'Jackets hold off Rams, 53-47

Sheridan outscored Lakeside's senior boys 19-4 in the second quarter and held off the Rams for a 53-47 victory Tuesday night.

Shawn Smith had 21 points to pace Lakeside, which pulled within four points in the fourth quarter. Adrien Wilson and Kirsten Gulley each had seven points and Tanner Rice and Kelen Bland six apiece for the Rams.

Adam Theiss scored 18 points to lead Sheridan, Steve Brasseal adding 11.

Lakeside returns to action Dec. 8 at Fountain Lake and then plays in the Russellville Classic, opening against the host Cyclones at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 11.

LHJH-Cabot South

CABOT -- Jenny Peake scored 16 points to lead the Lake Hamilton junior girls past Cabot South 43-28 Monday night.

Allison Trantham chipped in a double-double of 12 points and 16 rebounds for the Lady Wolves, Caitlynn Porter adding nine points. Porter, Meg Harrison and Brooke Powell teamed for 14 rebounds.

East Carolina-UALR

LAS VEGAS -- Arkansas-Little Rock's men's basketball team is 4-0 with the last two victories away from home in the Pacific Time Zone.

The Trojans outscored East Carolina by 16 points in the second half and limited the Pirates to 31-percent shooting for the game in a 56-46 victory Thursday in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational.

East Carolina led 23-15 at halftime after UALR shot 3-for-25 from the field. The Trojans scored seven of the first nine points in the second half, pulling within 25-22 by the half's first media time-out and scoring eight consecutive for a 37-29 lead.

Marcus Johnson Jr. led the Trojans in scoring with 13 points, making all six free throws he attempted. Josh Hagins added 11 points and Lis Shoski eight.

UALR came to Las Vegas off a 49-43 upset of host San Diego State on Saturday. The Trojans next go to Tulsa for a 3 p.m. Saturday game.
