Poverty coverage appreciated

Dear editor:

Thank you very much for providing coverage of the research results on Bridges Out of Poverty, particularly the "Getting Ahead in a Just Getting By World" program offered through Cooperative Christian Ministries and Clinic, a Partner Agency of the United Way of Garland County.

United Way is proud to be a major funding partner of this communitywide initiative to lift people out of poverty. Nearly one-third of children in Garland County are living in poverty, nearly 400 of whom are actually homeless. United Way and its 20 Partner Agencies work hard every day to address the needs of children and adults who are striving to build better lives for themselves, and we thank the community of the Hot Springs region for their contributions that help to make this good work possible.
