JazzFest to present Classical Jazz Blow Out

The Classical Jazz Blow Out, a fusion of classical music and jazz, will be presented as part of the 25th Hot Springs JazzFest at 7 p.m. Sept. 2 in the Five Star Theatre, 701 Central Ave.

The ASO Brass Quintet and the Anything That Moves jazz combo will come together for the nightclub-style event.

The program "allows a rare opportunity" to experience the ASO Brass Quintet performing classical music in an intimate venue, followed by a jazz performance by Anything That Moves with special guest Earl Hesse on clarinet and saxophone and vocalists Don Gooch and Diane Kesling, a news release said.

The highlight of the evening will be a "Blow Out" of classical and jazz by the Brass Quintet and ATM. A favorite of Dorothy Morris of the Morris Foundation, the program's sponsor, the concert "is guaranteed to leave its audience in awe," the release said.

The 25th Hot Springs JazzFest, Aug. 31 through Sept. 4, will include the JazzFest kickoff concert Rodney's Block Party on Aug. 31, featuring the Rodney Block Collective; Jazz Night at the Ohio Club on Sept. 1, featuring Clyde Pound Trio with the Diva Chicks, Dona Pettey, Fedette "Lady J" John and Shirley Chauvin; the Jazz in the Streets free concert on Sept. 3 on Broadway Avenue under Regions Bank skybridge from noon to 6 p.m., including a special two-hour performance by Brass-A-Holics from New Orleans; and Jazz Mass, Jazz After Church and the Stardust Big Band Tea Dance on Sept. 4.

Tickets to attend Classical Jazz Blow Out are $25 for Jazz Society members and $35 for nonmembers.
