Texarkana boxes in Wolves, 77-56

TEXARKANA -- Texarkana's box-and-one defense slowed Jordan Harper in the second half of the Razorbacks' 77-56 victory over Lake Hamilton Tuesday night in 6A/5A-South action.

Harper scored four three-pointers in the first half but did not score again after Texarkana switched defenses. The Razorbacks padded a 37-33 halftime lead to 49-38 after back-to-back threes by Kyndal Martin and two free throws by Taviron Oliver.

Oliver's game-high 22 points included eight-of-nine foul shooting. Fabian Phillips, besides drawing the key defensive assignment against Harper, added 17 points, hitting a three that helped Texarkana lead 58-46 into the fourth quarter

Lake Hamilton pulled within 63-56 with 4:23 left before Texarkana scored the last 14 points.

Martin added 14 points and Jonathan Gullatt 10 for Texarkana, which came off a road win over Lakeside. Robert James had seven rebounds and Michael Caldwell six for the Razorbacks, who totaled 31 boards to Lake Hamilton's 14.

Larenz Nero scored 18 points and Juan Jackson 15 for Lake Hamilton, which returns to action Monday night at Mena.

Girls

Taylor Wells scored 14 points off the bench and Sara Bershers added 11 as Lake Hamilton's varsity girls downed Texarkana 60-34. The Lady Wolves scored 25 second-quarter points to lead 43-20 at halftime. It was 58-27 after three quarters.

Lake Hamilton plays at Mena Monday night and hosts Lakeside Dec. 16 at Wolf Arena.

Maumelle Charter-CMS

Unbeaten Cutter Morning Star's senior boys picked up their first conference win Tuesday night, 76-25 over visiting Maumelle Charter.

The Eagles (8-0) led 47-16 after a 33-point second quarter, adding 29 in the second half.

Ryan Brown led the Eagles with 20, and Jacob Slaton added 12.

CMS plays at Magnet Cove Friday night, having defeated the Panthers 65-51 Saturday night in Magnet Cove's tournament final.
