GC Audubon meets Thursday at Westminster

Garland County Audubon Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3819 Central Ave., between Chili's and IHOP. The public is welcome. Field trips will be announced.

The program will include Ron Kew, vice president of the Garland County Audubon Society, and Shelley Todd, Natural Resource Program manager. Kew will lead in making a large batch of Magic Mix bird food as per the recipe from Hot Springs Village Audubon Society. This will be given to those who attend who want some for their log-style feeders. Bring a container, such as a plastic whipped cream container, if you want to take some home. Todd will report on the results of the Hot Springs Christmas Bird Count that was conducted on Dec. 15, 2015.

Home caregiver training class available

Oaklawn Center on Aging, UAMS, Reynolds Institute on Aging and Arkansas Aging Initiative will hold a general information session regarding Schmieding Home Caregiver Training, 101 McGowan Court, at 10 a.m. Feb. 26 for those interested in caring for the older adult in the home setting.
