Dierksen Hospice helps couple fulfill vow renewal wishes

"Two lives on one path chose to declare their undeniable love, again," according to the release. Jerry and Katharine Rickman, of Jessieville, exchanged a renewal of their wedding vows in the presence of family and friends on July 1, 2016. The ceremony was held at Hamilton Church of God at 6 p.m. with Dierksen Hospice Chaplain Billy Blackman officiating.

"In expectation of this picture perfect, storybook event, several Dierksen Hospice staff members and volunteers assisted with plans, preparations and tasks related to a formal church ceremony for this deserving couple. The couple's children were delighted to participate in the ceremony by standing before guests as witnesses for their parents promises." The floral decorations, created by Dickie Weston, a Dierksen Hospice volunteer, provided an atmosphere of beauty and celebration. Music and song was performed by Kami Vaughn, with the wedding moments captured in pictures by Jemery Vaughn, both Dierksen Hospice volunteers.

A large group of guests and the wedding party joined in fellowship with a custom-designed cake embellished in white and black, prepared by Sarah Barnette of Cake & Company, and other refreshments.

Jerry Rickman told Dierksen he always wondered if his bride missed not having a formal ceremony at a church. Dierksen Hospice is honored to have been able to serve this family and meet this request.
