Lupus benefit golf tourney set for Sept. 10

Lupus Foundation of Arkansas Inc.'s 19th annual benefit golf tournament is Sept. 10 with a 1 p.m. tee time at Diamondhead Country Club.

Golfers may register individually or as a team for the four-person scramble, which offers men's, women's and mixed flights and prizes for longest and most accurate drives on selected holes.

Entry fee is $55 per Diamondhead member, golf cart not included, and $60 for others. Tickets are $12 each for dinner after the round.

tickets ready for sale

Single-game tickets for Arkansas State home football games go on sale Monday in Jonesboro.

Arkansas State has won 26 of its last 30 games played in Jonesboro and has had a winning home record for 11 straight seasons. The Red Wolves' season and home opener is Friday, Sept. 2 at Centennial Bank Stadium with an 8 p.m. game against Toledo.

Arkansas State has another nonconference home game Sept. 24 against Central Arkansas (6 p.m.) before three consecutive Sun Belt Conference games in Jonesboro: Oct. 5 (Wednesday) against Georgia Southern (7 p.m.), Oct. 15 against South Alabama (6 p.m.) and Oct. 29 against Louisiana-Monroe (6 p.m.)

The Red Wolves' final home game is Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. against New Mexico State.

Single-game tickets prices for each of ASU's two nonconference games range from $15 in the upper east stands to $40 for bench-back locations on the lower east-side of the stadium. Those prices drop to $10 and $30, respectively, for the Red Wolves' four conference games.

Game-day sales carry a $3 fee per ticket in addition to regular prices. In addition, single-game tickets for rows 31 and above in the upper east section move to the same price as rows 1-30 when purchased on game days.

Signal Media of Arkansas and KABZ-FM 103.7 The Buzz, with cooperation from central Arkansas Honda dealers, are presenting the Pigskin Preview Thursday, Aug. 18 at the Arkansas Governor's Mansion. 1809 Center St. in Little Rock.

Guests include Gov. Asa Hutchinson and University of Arkansas football broadcasters Chuck Barrett and Keith Jackson, plus former Razorback players Clint Stoerner and D.J. Williams. KATV sports director Steve Sullivan and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette sports editor/columnist Wally Hall also are scheduled to attend.

Attendees may meet and have their picture taken with "Tusk," official mascot of the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Tickets are $35 each and available online at http://www.1037thebuzz.com, with a portion of the proceeds going to Positive Atmosphere Reaching Kids (P.A.R.K.), a nonprofit organization established in 1993 by Little Rock native Jackson. Mansion gates will open at 6 p.m.
