Breakfast Lions Club to host Chili Day

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- The Breakfast Lions Club will have its annual Chili Day on Saturday in the Coronado Community Center, 150 Ponderosa Way. The two serving times will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m.

Attendees will be able to enjoy unlimited servings of chili, along with a beverage and apple pie dessert. There will also be live music onstage by the group Heading Home. A silent auction will take place from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and prize drawings will be held every thirty minutes.

The requested donation amount is $10 for adults, and $5 for ages 5-12. Children younger than 5 will be admitted free.

Tickets now available for 'Live From Nashville'

The Hot Springs Village Concerts Association will present for its fifth and last concert of the year, "Live from Nashville," at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday evenings in Woodlands Auditorium, 1101 DeSoto Blvd.

Musical and theatrical professionals will bring dazzling staging and costuming from the authentic reaches of Nashville, all done with country style. There's the promise of boot stompin', barn dancing, and trendsetting entertainment that will make an evening of great fun.

Animal Welfare League holds open house days

In cooperation with the POA Animal Control officers, Animal Welfare League members will host open house days at the AWL Shelter, 195 Cloaca Lane.

From noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday through March 19, attendees will be able to see the refurbished adoption center, in addition to the animal intake area.

The POA Animal Control officers work cooperatively with AWL volunteers to run a no-kill rescue in a healthy, pleasant environment for homeless pets until they find their forever homes. Adoptions will be available.

Balboa Lounge sets St. Patrick's event

Area residents are welcome to celebrate on St. Patrick's Day from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Balboa Lounge, 111 Balboa Way.

Corned beef sandwiches on rye with chips will be served, and Michael Bearden will provide entertainment.

Boater safety class registration open

The Balboa Yacht Club and Hot Springs Village Property Owners' Association welcome all members who own or use boats on any HSV lake to attend a free boater safety class, set for 9 a.m. March 19 in the Coronado Community Center, 150 Ponderosa Way.

Presented by David Keyser of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, this one-hour class is designed to inform and remind boaters of the best safe boating practices.

Light refreshments will be served, and vendor displays and giveaways will be available.
