Siloam Springs, Benton cruise to first round wins

PEARCY -- The Siloam Springs Lady Panthers took an easy win over the Searcy Lady Lions in the second match of the Class 6A state volleyball tournament at Wolf Arena.

The Lady Panthers outscored their opponents 25-13, 25-7 and 25-9 in the match.

The Lady Lions were able to shut down the Lady Panthers offense somewhat in the first game, allowing only three- and four-point maximum runs, but Siloam Springs dominated game two with runs of seven and 11 points. The final game saw the Lady Panthers take control with a six-point run, followed by a seven-point and another six-point run before securing the win on defense.

Siloam Springs faces Jonesboro, the number two seed from the 6A-East, this afternoon at 4 p.m.

Benton-Jacksonville

The Benton Lady Panthers took a 3-0 win over the Jacksonville Lady Titans last night in the third match of the Class 6A state volleyball tournament at Wolf Arena.

Two solid runs of five and six points helped Benton take the first game, 25-9. Jacksonville made things closer in the second game, but was unable to come back to win it, falling 25-15.

The third game was fairly one-sided as the Lady Panthers capitalized on a six-point run to take the 25-8 win.

Benton will face Marion, the top-seeded team from the 6A-East, at today at 6 p.m.
