Junior Wolves rally past HSJH, 24-20

PEARCY --Brayden Clark sneaked one yard for the go-ahead touchdown with 2:32 left, and Lake Hamilton Junior High held on to beat Hot Springs 24-20 Thursday night at Wolf Stadium.

Clark scored Lake Hamilton's first and last touchdowns on quarterback sneaks, also throwing to Landon Way and Pearson Hafer for two-point conversions. Braden Broughton ran 59 yards for a second-quarter touchdown, Malik Brewer's two-point play putting the Wolves ahead 16-14.

Santair Thomas scored all three Hot Springs touchdowns, his 55-yard interception return putting the Trojans ahead 20-16 with 1:12 left in the third quarter. Hot Springs went up 14-8 on first-quarter touchdown runs of 13 and 7 yards by Thomas.

Braughton carried twice for 67 yards and Brewer 11 times for 56 yards. Braughton added 10 tackles, five for lost yardage with two sacks included, and an interception. Braden Qualls had eight tackles for the Wolves.

Lake Hamilton won the eighth-grade game 8-6 with Layne Warrick running 55 yards for a Wolf touchdown and Carlos Brewer adding the two-point conversion.

Lake Hamilton's junior-high teams go to Cabot South Thursday.

Fountain Lake-Nashville

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- Medalist Hunter Thompson helped Fountain Lake defeat conference rival Nashville by 18 strokes in a nine-hole match Thursday at Magellan Golf Course.

Thompson, a senior, shot a 36 for a three-stroke advantage over junior teammate Montana Carden. Junior Kyle Thomas' 46 completed Fountain Lake's total of 121. Junior Colin Parnell led Nashville with a 40.

Fountain Lake's boys and girls play Arkadelphia and other teams Tuesday at DeGray Lake State Park.

Varsity volleyball

Fountain Lake-Malvern

MALVERN -- Fountain Lake's varsity won its third match of the week, improving to 2-0 in conference play with Thursday's 25-18, 25-20, 25-9 road win over Malvern.

Kaylynn Bennett had 10 kills, 10 service points (two aces included) and six digs for Fountain Lake, which defeated Haskell Harmony Grove and Lake Hamilton earlier this week. The Lady Cobras take a 5-3 record into Tuesday's home match with Ashdown.

Adeline Rose had 12 service points and four kills as Fountain Lake's junior high rallied 24-26, 25-16, 15-8. Malvern won the junior-varsity match 15-25, 25-18, 15-13.

Junior high volleyball

Magnolia-Lakeside

McKaila Davis had 11 service points for the unbeaten Lakeside junior Lady Rams against visiting Magnolia Thursday.

Cailin Ward totaled six service points and three assists in Lakeside's 25-4, 25-7 victory. Molly Stineman had four kills on six attempts and two digs and Olivia Lawrence chipped in five assists. Winning their conference opener, the Lady Rams are 6-0 for the season.

Lakeside's eighth-grade team is 4-0 after a 25-23, 25-8 win over Magnolia. Savanah Godwin had seven service points and Ava Monte six points with an ace for the Lady Rams.

Both Lakeside teams play Arkadelphia at home Tuesday.
