The Sentinel-Record/Colbie McCloud STOLEN: Hot Springs police work the scene where a LifeNet ambulance was found abandoned at Church and Cottage after being stolen from a local hospital.

A LifeNet ambulance was stolen from a local hospital and involved in two separate collisions with vehicles Tuesday afternoon, and Hot Springs police said they were talking to a "person of interest" regarding the incident.

No injuries were reported, and no arrests had been made in the incident as of presstime.

The ambulance was parked at National Park Medical Center at around 1:12 p.m. Tuesday when it was stolen by an unknown suspect, police said in a news release.

The driver of the ambulance ran the traffic signal at Malvern and Hollywood and struck another vehicle, causing damage but no injuries, the release said.

The ambulance continued to Church and Cottage Streets where the suspect abandoned it and fled, Hot Springs police Community Relations Officer Joey Williams said.

Police located the ambulance at Cottage and Church at around 1:25 p.m. Tuesday.

LifeNet personnel were inside the hospital picking up a patient to be transported at the time of the theft. The ambulance was tracked through a GPS tracking system to Church and Cottage Streets where LifeNet and police recovered it, a LifeNet news release said.

"The ambulance was involved in a minor crash with a parked vehicle around the intersection of Church and Cottage streets. The perpetrator fled the scene. Thankfully, this incident was resolved quickly with no injuries," LifeNet General Manager Jason Gartner said in the release.
