Pedestrian struck by hit-and-run driver on Central

A 17-year-old Hot Springs girl was reportedly struck by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday night while attempting to cross Central Avenue in the 3300 block, according to a Hot Springs police incident report.

At around 8:53 p.m., the victim was crossing Central from west to east, about 1,000 feet south of Golf Links Road, when she was struck by what witnesses described as a dark passenger car, possibly an older model Ford Mustang, that was northbound in the outside lane.

One male witness, 20, of Hot Springs, was walking just ahead of the victim when she was struck. A male witness, 28, and female witness, 28, both of Hot Springs, were in the nearby parking lot of Little Caesar's, 3340 Central Ave., and another female witness, 27, was driving north several car lengths behind the suspect vehicle in the inside lane.

The latter witness was reportedly able to get the license plate of the vehicle. All four witnesses reported the vehicle struck the victim and continued on "without slowing or stopping" at the scene.

The victim was thrown by the impact up onto the sidewalk where officers located her "visibly in pain," the report states. She was transported by LifeNet to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs for treatment.

A vehicle possibly identified as the suspect vehicle was reportedly located in the 300 block of Hollywood Avenue and photos taken.

The incident was still under investigation Wednesday, but no arrests had been made yet, HSPD Cpl. Kirk Zaner said.
