Jessieville High School freshmen Jacob Semmler, left, Taryn Anderson, second from left, and Joey Benson, right, were the finalists in the recent Optimist essay contest "Chasing Optimism in the Face of Challenges." The Hot Springs Village Optimist Club has held the essay competition since 1995. The finalists were invited to read their essays at the Optimist Club meeting on April 11 at Village United Methodist Church, where the winners were announced. They were congratulated by Jessieville High School English teacher Kimberley Cozzi, center, and Jake Christopherson, Optimist essay contest chair.
