Overnight wreck kills HS woman

A Hot Springs woman was killed when her pickup truck went off a wet roadway and overturned, ejecting her from the vehicle, early Sunday morning in the 200 block of Treasure Isle Road, according to Arkansas State Police.

Jordyn Ashley Melancen, 28, was southbound on Treasure Isle Road in a 1996 GMC pickup truck at around 12:15 a.m. Sunday when she left the roadway on the north side and overturned, according to a state police preliminary fatal crash summary.

The truck came to rest at the bottom of an embankment.

Garland County sheriff's Sgt. John Schroeder, training and media relations coordinator, said the wreck was reported to the sheriff's department at 9:21 a.m. Sunday.

Garland County Coroner Stuart Smedley, who responded to the scene after the wreck was reported, pronounced Melancen deceased at the scene, according to the state police report.

Arkansas State Police, Garland County Sheriff's Department, LifeNet, Piney Volunteer Fire Department, and Xtreme Towing and Recovery all responded to the scene.

The report notes it was raining at the time of the time of the wreck. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
