Akansa Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution recently conducted a retirement ceremony for United States of America flags at Grove Park in Hot Springs Village. Old flags from Village fire station deposit boxes were prepared for retirement. After ceremoniously cutting away the Union of blue stars and each stripe, the "Grand Old Flag" was burned. White stripes first, then red, followed by the Union of blue. Garland County Girl Scout Color Guard and Spa City Brass assisted.
