Lady Rams rout Arkadelphia in tourney

FORDYCE -- The Lakeside Lady Rams finished third in the Fordyce tournament with a 71-34 win over Arkadelphia in the consolation game Saturday afternoon.

Junior Ashton Patrick led all scorers with 17 points, including five 3-pointers, while sophomore Abby Mahoney finished with 12 points and seven rebounds and junior Belle Neilson had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Sophomore Chloe Porter and junior Lindsey Davis each scored eight points for the Lady Rams. Lakeside led 24-5 at the end of the first quarter and 43-15 at the half before coasting to victory.

The Lady Rams suffered their first loss of the season in Wednesday's semifinal matchup with Monticello. Lakeside trailed 26-23 at halftime, and Monticello pulled away with a 29-25 advantage over the last two quarters.

Senior Thea Rice paced the Lady Rams with 17 points, connecting on two shots from behind the arc. Mahoney recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Behind 22 points, including three 3-pointers, from Patrick, Lakeside opened conference play with a 72-32 rout of Texarkana Friday night.

The Lady Rams held a commanding 41-18 lead at the half, adding 24 points in the third quarter before cruising to a win. Neilson and Mahoney each scored eight points for Lakeside, while sophomore Riley Green chipped in with seven points.

Lakeside (7-1) hosts crosstown rival Hot Springs Tuesday night at Lakeside Athletic Complex.

Fountain Lake-England

CONWAY -- The Fountain Lake Lady Cobras were held to just three points in the first quarter and never recovered in Saturday's matchup with England in the third-place game of the St. Joseph Classic.

The Lady Lions led 21-14 after two quarters, adding 22 points while surrendering 17 in the second half to secure a 43-31 win.

Senior Isabelle Baker scored a team-high 12 points for the Lady Cobras and senior Lyndsey Blees finished with eight points.

Fountain Lake (2-4) resumes conference play against visiting Jessieville Tuesday night at Bass Gymnasium.
