Red Devils rout England at England Classic

ENGLAND -- Mountain Pine had four in double-digits Monday night as the Red Devils rolled to a 76-48 win over England in the England Classic.

Trailing 13-11 after one quarter, Mountain Pine bounced back to take a 35-19 lead at the break.

The Red Devils continued to dominate in the second half, putting up 21 of their 41 second-half points in the third quarter while allowing 18 for England to take a 56-37 lead going into the final frame.

Fay Haywood paced the Red Devils with 22 points. Lashawn Reed added 17, Tyler Zander put up 11 and Kwin Staggers had 10.

Mountain Pine (7-1) returns to England Thursday to face Hector in the second round of the tournament at 5:30 p.m.

Bismarck-Poyen junior boys

POYEN -- Bismarck's junior boys recovered from an early deficit to edge Poyen, 35-32, in the opening round of the Poyen Junior Invitational tournament Monday night.

Trailing 9-5 after six minutes, Bismarck maintained the spread at intermission as both teams added 10 for a 19-15 junior Indian lead.

The junior Lions came out of the break with a defensive mindset, holding Poyen to five while adding 11 to take a 26-24 lead going into the final frame.

Dawson King paced the junior Lions with 16 points, Logan Bubulka added six, Braven Golden had five and Connor Corley put up four. Braden Efird and Blake Smith each added two, Smith's coming off of a pair of free throws with six seconds remaining.

The junior Lions will face Bauxite tonight at 8 p.m. in the second round of the tournament.

Lakeside bowling

Lakeside picked up a pair of wins Monday at Central Bowling Lanes, the Lady Rams topping Mount Saint Mary's 11-2 and the Rams dominating Little Rock Catholic 13-0.

The Lady Rams knocked down 1,765 pins to the Belles' 1,448.

Melissa Perrigo led the Lady Rams with a 335 series, posting a 170 in her high game. Cloe Junkerman bowled a 284 (159 high), and Rachael Langley rounded out the team with a 202 series (108 high). Destiny Phillips led Lakeside's other team, bowling a 271 (160 high), Anna Rose Nagy bowled a 211 (106 high) and Jenna Sims had a 183 (95 high).

The Rams knocked down 2,457 pins to LR Catholic's 2,042.

Landon Gray led the Rams with a 427 series, carding a 224 and 203. Ben Larimore bowled a 352 (180 high), and Cameron Elliott rouned out the team with a 268 series (144 high). Tyson Keeney paced his team with a 399, scoring a 213 and 186, Hunter Rhodes bowled a 368 (203 high) and Kade Tarbet finished with a 260 series (143 high).

The Rams and Lady Rams traveled to Benton Tuesday.

Lakeside-Malvern

Lakeside's junior girls dominated Malvern in the opening round of Lakeside's tournament Monday night.

Averaging over nine points per quarter, Lakeside held Malvern scoreless while rolling to a 37-5 win.

Lakeside picked up seven in the opening quarter before taking a 21-0 lead into the break. Malvern scored its only points in the fourth frame.

Catriona Morcan led Lakeside with six points, Maddie Trusty added five and Adachi Igbokidi, Ashley Gayle and Sheridan Cross had four each.

The junior Lady Rams (6-2) face Camden in the semifinals tonight.

UALR's DeGray named

Sun Belt Player of Week

LITTLE ROCK -- Little Rock's Raeyana DeGray was named the Sun Belt Women's Basketball Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.

DeGray averaged 15 points, a 12-for-24 field-goal percentage and four rebounds in two games.

The junior guard from Mount Juliet (Tenn.) High School began the week with a career-high 16 points while picking up five rebounds, a block and a steal against Oklahoma. She shot seven-for-13 from the field and was two-for-two from the charity stripe.

Against St. Louis Friday, DeGray hit five of 11 from the field with a career-high four free throws for 14 points, and she tallied three rebounds and a steal.

DeGray is averaging 7.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 45.9 percent field-goal percentage six games into the season. She added 14 points with six rebounds Monday against Missouri State.

UALR (3-4) hosts Louisiana Tech Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Jack Stephens Center before traveling to Starkville, Miss., to face No. 6 Mississippi State Sunday at 2 p.m.
