HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- Kayla Gomance will present "Music is for the Birds," about the steadfast relationship between music and birdsongs, at 10 a.m. Friday at the Coronado Center as HSV Audubon's guest speaker. Guests may arrive early for cookies and coffee.

Gomance is a park interpreter at Lake Ouachita State Park. She will demonstrate how birdsongs have weaved their way into the compositions and hearts of numerous musicians and will shed light on this phenomenon and pass on some inspiration along the way.

As an Arkansas native, Gomance has a passion for sharing the glory of the natural state. She escorts people into the woods, the lake, and the past in hopes that hearts and minds can find connections. When not exploring with park visitors, she can be found exploring with her dog, Josie, and her husband, Eric.

The event is free and open to the public. Call Karen Gieger at 501-922-0645 or Norma Wall at 214-212-6770 for more information.

HSV Audubon will also host its Countdown to Christmas Bird Count event from 7:30 a.m. until dark on Dec. 18, and dinner on Dec. 19.

Attendees do not have to be expert birders, are not required to stay the entire time, and can even participate from home.

Call or email Chris Cash at 501-922-1933 or [email protected] to sign up, or sign up at Friday's meeting.
