Lakeside bowling sweeps Benton

Lakeside's bowling teams improved to 2-0 with wins over Benton Tuesday night at Professor Bowl in Little Rock.

Landon Gray bowled a 465 with games of 264 and 201 in a slim 7-6 win for the Rams.

Tyson Keeney posted a score of 422 with a game-high 227, while Cameron Elliot and Jimmy Tejcek each bowled one game. Elliot scored a 135 and Tejcek posted a 204.

Ben Larimore paced Lakeside's other team with a score of 344, including a game-high 204. Hunter Rhodes bowled a 314 (168 high), and Kade Tarbet posted a score of 293 with a game-high 160.

The Rams knocked down 2,496 pins compared to 2,245 for the Panthers.

Anna Rose Nagy bowled a 279 with a game-high 154 in a 10-3 win for the Lady Rams. Melissa Perrigo bowled a 272 (140 high), and Bree Green posted a score of 267 with a game-high 138.

Destiny Phillips bowled a 253 with a game-high 144 to lead Lakeside's other team, Chloe Junkerman with a 197 (109 high) and Rachel Langley with a 193 (113 high).

The Lady Rams knocked down 1,693 pins compared to 1,684 for the Lady Panthers.

Lakeside's varsity and junior varsity teams will host Clarksville Monday at Central Bowling Lanes before traveling to Texarkana on Tuesday.

High school basketball Gospel Light-Faulkner County

Gospel Light outlasted the visitors from Faulkner County Tuesday for a 57-51 home victory behind 33 points from senior Ezekiel Capaci.

Faulkner County led 14-10 after the first quarter, but the Lions surged ahead 28-23 by halftime. The score was tied 40-40 after three quarters.

Capaci played all 32 minutes and shot 12-for-26 from the field, including 5-for-8 from 3-point. He added six assists and four rebounds.

The Lions made 6 of 11 3-pointers, 54 percent, as a team. They shot 23-for-54, 42 percent, overall.

Eighth-grader Logan Frye scored seven points and pulled down three rebounds. Junior Jacob Duta and freshman Joshua Porter tied for the team lead with seven rebounds as each scored six points. Junior Ethan Sims added three points and six rebounds.

Next up for the Lions is a road game against Christian Ministries Academy today.

Hot Springs-Prescott

The Hot Springs junior Lady Trojans opened the Lakeside tournament in style Monday night, cruising past Prescott for a 41-32 win at Lakeside Athletic Complex.

Jurnee Hicks and Jaylia Reed each scored 17 points for the Lady Trojans.

Hicks was one of two scorers in double figures in a 44-26 rout of Camden Fairview on Nov. 30. Tamia Doll paced the Lady Trojans with 14 points, while Reed scored six points and India Hudson and Ivy Scott each had five points.
