The driver, Haley Rae Rudd, 31, who lists a Hofstedt Trail address, was also arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, meth, speeding, fictitious tags and failure to register her vehicle.

Self was being held Friday on $21,000 bond while Rudd, who had a parole hold on her, was being held without bail. Both are set to appear Jan. 8 in Garland County District Court.

According to the affidavit, Garland County sheriff's deputies and investigators were in the 100 block of Highway 7 north doing extra patrol when Deputy Shane Tatum reportedly observed a white Buick passenger car speeding and discovered the license plate returned to a different vehicle.

Tatum made a traffic stop on the car at the Shell gas station as Sgt. Josh Cannon arrived to assist. The passenger, later identified as Self, got out and walked inside the store as deputies approached. They made contact with the driver, Rudd, and discovered she had a warrant out of Benton and was on parole with a waiver to search her and her vehicle.

The deputies went inside the store and made contact with Self as she exited the restroom. Tatum asked why she had left the car and she said she just needed to use the restroom. Cannon went into the bathroom and found a white purse in the trash can.

Inside the purse he reportedly found one baggie with 30.5 grams of suspected meth, a second baggie with 29.6 grams of suspected meth, a third baggie with multiple pills, a set of digital scales with meth residue and a used syringe.

In searching the car, deputies reportedly found a backpack that had a case inside containing a syringe filled with suspected meth. At that point, both women were taken into custody.

Self was arrested Nov. 28 along with Terry Ray Merriott, 44, of Hot Springs, after allegedly leading law enforcement on a pursuit through Garland, Hot Spring and Clark counties before finally being apprehended near Arkadelphia.

Self, a previously convicted felon, allegedly threw a .45-caliber handgun and other items out of the car window during the pursuit. She was later charged with felony counts of possession of a firearm by certain persons, aggravated assault and felony fleeing. She was later released on $11,500 bond.
