A Hot Springs man was arrested late Friday after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and her daughter.

Mark Boyd Terrell, 30, of 102 Crutchfield Trail, was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. Friday and charged with a felony count of third-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to six years in prison, and a misdemeanor count of second-degree assault on a family or household member, punishable by up to 90 days in jail.

He remained in custody Tuesday in lieu of $5,000 bond and is set to appear in Garland County District Court March 6.

According to the affidavit, Garland County sheriff's Deputy Andrew Goodman responded to a domestic disturbance at Terrell's residence just after 8 p.m. Friday. Terrell's live-in girlfriend told Goodman that he had injured her and then left the scene.

She claimed that Terrell punched her in the right side of her face while she was in the bathroom, and said she followed him outside and saw him push her daughter, nearly causing her to fall backward. As she approached Terrell, he pushed her to the ground. When she got up, she saw Terrell fleeing from the residence.

Goodman observed minor lacerations on the top of the victim's feet, mud on the knees of her pants and redness and swelling on the right side of her face. She initially stated she wanted LifeNet personnel to evaluate her, but canceled the request before they arrived.

The daughter reportedly told Goodman that Terrell had pushed her in the chest with his hand and she almost fell over, but was able to maintain her balance.

Just before 9:30 p.m., a dispatcher notified Goodman that a friend of the victim had received a text from her stating that Terrell was inside the residence. Goodman arrived at the residence and knocked on the door and the victim answered. She pointed to a back hallway and said Terrell was in the bedroom.

Goodman saw a white male, who identified himself as Terrell, in the bedroom with his hands raised. He placed Terrell into custody and escorted him to his patrol vehicle.

Goodman noted Terrell had an odor of intoxicants and slurred speech as he walked him to his vehicle.
