A veteran's response

Dear editor:

After reading the article in our local newspaper that Gov. Asa Hutchinson is calling for exempting military veterans' retirement benefits from the state income tax, this letter is prompted for publication:

After serving on active duty of military service for over 20 years and serving Hurricane Katrina, the state of Arkansas was my selection for dwelling. It's also the site of burial of both my grandparents.

We ask no economy of the state and or county sales tax on every cent we spend of our government-earned income.

You can rest assured that others who served protecting the shores of this country will prompt more military retirees back to Arkansas.

The "thank you for your service" is well appreciated, but does put food on the table.
