A Hot Springs Village woman was arrested early Tuesday after allegedly attacking her mother, tying her up and threatening to kill her, according to the Garland County Sheriff's Department.

Angela M. Shores, 25, who lists a Santona Way address, was taken into custody shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday and charged with a felony count of second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and misdemeanor charges of second-degree false imprisonment and first-degree interference with an emergency communication device, punishable by up to one year in jail.

Shores was being held without bond pending an appearance in Garland County District Court.

According to an affidavit from the sheriff's department, the mother said Shores locked her inside her room, began arguing with her and then began to hit her with a flashlight while sitting on her chest. Shores then allegedly hit her mother's phone with a clothes iron until it was rendered unusable.

She then took her mother's belt, tied her hands with it, took her to a vehicle and placed her inside it against her will, the mother said. Then Shores began to drive the vehicle with her mother inside.

The mother said when she opened the door in the hope that someone would see her, Shores told her she was going to kill her. Shores then drove her and her mother to a residence at Little Blakely Camp, apparently in hopes of staying there. When Shores got out, her mother was able to lock the vehicle's doors and drive off, eventually making contact with a Garland County sheriff's deputy.

While in an ambulance, Shores' mother complained of difficulty breathing and being unable to lean back on the gurney due to pain. She reportedly had bruises on her right eye, left cheek, left side of her lip, nose, the insides of both of her arms, her chest, breast and ribs. A lump approximately the size of a golf ball was observed on the outside of her left forearm. She was transported to National Park Medical Center for treatment.

GCSD deputies made contact with Shores at a residence in the 100 block of Dovetail Street in Little Blakely Camp. She was ordered to come outside and was taken into custody.
