Man allegedly exposes himself to juvenile

A Hot Springs man was arrested Tuesday on a misdemeanor warrant for allegedly exposing himself to an 8-year-old girl playing outside near his condo last month.

Charles Phillip Peterson, 76, who lists an address at 152 Mimosa Point, was taken into custody at his residence around noon and charged with indecent exposure, punishable by up to one year in jail. He was released on $1,000 bond, and is set to appear July 31 in Garland County District Court.

According to the affidavit, on June 27, a Dewitt woman filed a complaint with Garland County sheriff's investigators alleging her 8-year-old daughter told her she was playing at their condo on Mimosa Point when a man pulled down his pants, showing her his "private parts."

The juvenile victim stated she was doing cartwheels when she ended up in the man's yard. She said she looked up from playing and noticed a man standing in a window wearing a red shirt and jeans.

The man then allegedly pulled his pants down and exposed himself while she was looking at him. The victim said she ran away and told her father what happened.

The man was later identified as Peterson, and it was discovered he was previously convicted of indecent exposure in August 2008.

• A local man was arrested late Wednesday after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, violating an order of protection she had against him.

Kenny Keton Gibson, 25, who lists a Ragweed Valley Road address, was taken into custody at around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday and charged with a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery and two counts of violating a protection order, each punishable by up to one year in jail.

Gibson remained in custody Thursday in lieu of zero bond and is set to appear Aug. 7 in district court.

According to the affidavit, Gibson's ex-girlfriend took out an order of protection against him on Wednesday, after he reportedly violated a previous protection order and struck her in the mouth, causing injury.

The victim told DeLaHunt she had seen Gibson in the area of her residence in violation of the order of protection against him. The resident of the home Gibson was reportedly sleeping outside of also informed the victim Gibson was in the area.
