First Baptist offers variety of camps

First Baptist Church Recreation Ministry, 2350 Central Ave., is hosting several camps for youths this summer.

Art Camps for sixth-graders and older, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 5-8 and July 10-13. A minimum of three campers required, 10 campers maximum.

Campers will learn how God has made each person unique. Like a fingerprint, in art, every artists' hands have different sizes in their palms, finger and tendon lengths which makes their brush, paint and pencil strokes unique to them and to God.

The registration fee includes a paint kit with canvas, camp T-shirt, snacks. The instructor will be Mrs. Chris Murphy.

Bible Base Fitness, for kindergartners through sixth-graders, will be held from 1-4 p.m. June 5-8 and July 31-Aug. 3. There is a minimum of five campers required, with a maximum of 20.

Each day of camp, participants will have a different style of exercise class, nutrition lesson with healthy snacks they make together, Bible study lesson, obstacle course set up, and free time.

The registration fee includes a jump rope, pedometer, water bottle, camp T-shirt and snacks. The instructor will be Grace Labbe.

There will be Sewing Camps for girls 10 years and older from 9 a.m. to noon July 17-20. There is a maximum of eight campers required.

Campers will experience and participate in learning the basic art of sewing and quilting, from threading a needle to sewing by hand and by machine. The disappearing art of quilting will be taught as campers make and hand-quilt their own personal wall-hanging to take home with them. Call for the registration fee. Instructors will be members of the FBC Quilters.

A Crochet Camp for girls 10 years and older will be held at a time to be determined, for a maximum of eight campers.

Campers will learn the basics of crochet and make a project to take home. "This is not your grandmother's crochet! It is just for you and you will be surprised how quickly you can learn to crochet," state the press release. Registration fee includes camp supplies, T-shirt and snacks. Instructors are members of the FBC Loving Threads.
