Trojans, Red Devils win home games

Nine months after squandering a 15-point fourth-quarter lead in the 5A-South conference championship, Hot Springs got its revenge against Hope Tuesday night.

Sophomore Santiair Thomas led all scorers with 21 points while senior Payton Hayes added 15 in a season-opening 64-32 win at Trojan Fieldhouse.

The Bobcats edged Hot Springs twice last season, 68-57 in the season opener and 64-62 in the conference championship.

Hot Springs (1-0) hosts Magnolia on Nov. 28.

MP-Bismarck

MOUNTAIN PINE -- Mountain Pine had four players score in double figures, cruising to a 73-38 win over visiting Bismarck here Tuesday night.

Lashawn Reed paced the Red Devils with 14 points, Matt Snow had 13, Josh Walpole scored 11 and Fay Haywood chipped in with 10 points.

Mountain Pine (1-0) will face White Hall in the Lakeside Classic tournament at 5:45 p.m. Saturday at Lakeside Athletic Complex.

CMS-Abundant Life

NORTH LITTLE ROCK -- A dynamic performance from sophomore Ryan Brown put one in the win column for Cutter Morning Star first-year coach Matt Carter Monday night.

Brown led all scorers with 33 points, connecting on eight three-pointers in a 69-44 win over Abundant Life. The Eagles led 25-11 at the end of the first quarter and 49-22 at the half before coasting to victory.

CMS (1-0) travels to Acorn Friday night before hosting Benton Harmony Grove in its home opener Monday night at Eagle Fieldhouse.

LH-Malvern

PEARCY -- The Lake Hamilton Lady Wolves rode a 10-0 first-quarter run to a 55-26 rout of Malvern in the first round of the Lake Hamilton Classic tournament Tuesday night at Wolf Arena.

Lake Hamilton led 17-6 at the half before breaking the game open with a 24-14 advantage in the third quarter. Senior Logan Keener led the Lady Wolves with 14 points.

Grace Tedder grabbed six rebounds while Hannah Walker and Jenny Peake each dished out four assists.

The Lady Wolves (1-1) face Kirby at 7 p.m. today at Wolf Arena.
