Melting Pot talk on Christmas traditions

The Melting Pot Genealogical Society will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Melting Pot Library, 649-B Ouachita Ave. A presentation on "The Origins and Meanings of Christmas Traditions" will be given by Beverly Salisbury of Hot Springs Village.

Salisbury received her bachelor's degree in English from Auburn University and holds two graduate degrees in English from the University of Memphis. She is an accomplished author, retired professor of English and has produced presentations for professional conferences. Visitors are welcome.

The MPGS maintains a library whose collections include more than 9,000 publications. The library hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Friday or by appointment, 624-0229. The staff is an all-volunteer group of people interested in preserving and making available to the public the histories of families of Garland County and other areas.

Tickets available for Emblem Christmas party

Hot Springs Emblem Club 194 will have a Christmas party Dec. 10 at the Elks Lodge, 122 Abbott Place. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. with music by Fab 3 from 7-10 p.m.
