HS Tech partners with

Garland County Library

Hot Springs Tech Learning Center will present a seminar at the Garland County Library on April 12, from 2-4 p.m. The seminar is open to everyone. Persons may sign up at the library desk.

John "Happy Clicking" McFerrin will speak on various subjects, including tips for using a flash drive, managing pictures and documents, transferring pictures from a cell phone to a computer, saving pictures from an email to a computer, and sending pictures and documents via email.

Rosemarie Kawlewski, a Windows 10 instructor, will speak on basic and intermediate Window 10 programs, working apps, creating desktop shortcuts and creating internet favorites.

Candidate for governor

to address GCRW

The Garland County Republican Women will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at Garland County Library. The speaker will be Jan Morgan, candidate for Arkansas governor and owner of the Gun Cave Indoor Firing Range.

HSV Audubon topic on postage stamp birds

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- Dan "The Bird Man" Scheiman will be the guest speaker for the HSV Audubon program at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Coronado Center Auditorium, Hot Springs Village. He will talk about what postage stamps featuring birds can teach us about ornithology. There are more than 37,000 postage stamps that illustrate more than 3,500 bird species, their habits and habitats, threats and conservation, and the ornithologists who studied them.

Scheiman is bird conservation director for Audubon Arkansas, a state office of the National Audubon Society in Little Rock. Visitors are welcome.

Tickets available for Civitan fundraiser

The Hot Springs Civitan Club is holding a fundraiser on April 19 to purchase accessible playground equipment for David F. Watkins Memorial Park on Park Avenue. It will be held at the Williams Brothers Feed historic Railroad Freight House.

There will be a silent auction, barbecue meal provided by Smokin In Style, and casino games. The auction features work of area artisans in addition to a wide range of antiques, collectibles, jewelry, hand-crafted items, and products and services of area business.
