Teaching liberal views

Dear editor:

This is a response to "Doc" Crawford's Sunday, April 8, letter, as well as several of his other recent letters.

You proudly announced that you have been "an educator of public schools and colleges for 47 years." Ordinarily, I might admire and applaud someone who has been a teacher at various levels for so long.

Instead, I once more point out that liberal teachers like you are one of the main reasons why so many of our students have such liberal viewpoints. You and other liberal teachers are poisoning these students' young minds!

Obviously, you are indeed on the liberal side since you have given us all much evidence about that after you expressed if for years in your many letters. I actually cringe at the thought of you influencing our youth!

You obviously are encouraging public school students to demonstrate on the streets even more! You stated (Sunday, March 25) that "College students have for years acted in forms of civil disobedience about various social and political issues. Why not public school students?" Students in public schools are much younger than those in colleges and are still struggling to gain some maturity.

Our students, as a whole, are already so woefully undereducated and unprepared in our culture today. Is taking to the streets in more demonstrations going to help them to become better educated?

C.O. Stover's March 31 letter was right on target by pointing out the problem of left-wing propaganda being pushed upon those poor students! America doesn't need any more of this kind of "teaching!"

"Doc," you stated (April 8) that you "resent the implication that students are taught propaganda and political correctness." Well, guess what? There are many of us who resent having liberal teachers like you influencing our young people's minds! It would be highly unlikely that you wouldn't teach them your liberal views.

I must praise Ellen Varhalla for her excellent response letters to you, "Doc!" Thanks for pointing out how ludicrous it has become for liberals to not only advocate confiscating our guns, but also our knives, screwdrivers, hammers, etc. Our real problem with the cause of violence comes from within ourselves with our sinful hearts and minds, as the Bible points out. That's what needs changing.

Ellen, thank you also for pointing out that "the 1 million babies aborted each year dwarfs the number of all ages killed by firearms!"

Speaking of abortion, "Doc," you stated in a past letter that you don't support abortion, but that you still support a woman's choice to abort (kill) her baby if she so decides. As I pointed out before, when you take that position of support, you are actually supporting abortion!

You stated that the Supreme Court made this the law of the land, but Christians should not accept anything that violates the moral standards revealed by God in the Bible.

A court can make abortion legal, but it cannot make it moral.
