Bauxite man arrested after trying to ram car through house Saturday

A Bauxite man had to be forcibly removed from his car by Garland County sheriff's deputies after allegedly trying to ram it through his ex-girlfriend's house Saturday afternoon.

Robert Scott Lee, 29, was taken into custody shortly after 1 p.m. and charged with felony counts of first-degree criminal mischief and first-degree terroristic threatening, each punishable by up to six years in prison, and a misdemeanor count of refusal to submit to arrest, punishable by up to one year in jail.

Lee was later released on $6,000 bond and is set to appear Aug. 20 in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly before 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Deputy Shane Tatum and Cpl. Felix Hunter were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of Mountain Pine Road in reference to someone who was supposed to be coming to the residence who "did not belong there and was going to cause problems."

Deputies waited, but when nobody showed up they left. Shortly before 1 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the same residence again to a report of the driver of a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse ramming the house.

Hunter arrived on scene and told other units to "step it up." When Tatum arrived, he noted Hunter was holding the driver, later identified as Lee, at gunpoint as he sat in his car. The driver's door was open, but Lee allegedly ignored repeated commands to exit the vehicle.

Tatum grabbed Lee's arm and he reportedly "tensed up," so he released him and then deployed his Taser, using it to stun him twice in the neck "with no effect." Lee allegedly grabbed Tatum's wrist that held the Taser so Tatum struck him on the right side of his face to get him to release his wrist.

Lee then reportedly wrapped his hand into the seat belt to prevent deputies from pulling him out. Hunter finally had to cut the seat belt away from Lee's hand and he was finally removed and taken into custody.

LifeNet arrived and transported Lee to National Park Medical Center because he was reportedly threatening to commit suicide and told them he had taken a lot of prescription medication.

Tatum noted the car had severe damage which caused both air bags to deploy and there was damage to the lower band and vinyl siding on the exterior of the house. It was also noted there were cracks in the Sheetrock all along the front wall in the interior of the house.

The resident said Lee had made recent threats to "run his car through the house." She said they had been in a relationship, but were no longer seeing each other. Witnesses said they heard a horn honking for an extended period of time and then heard the vehicle ram the house.
