National Park Photography Club to meet Tuesday

The National Park Photography Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Garland County Library on Malvern Avenue. Sharon Prislipsky of Hot Springs Village will present a program entitled "Capture and Beyond: Making a Winning Image." Whether one defines "winning" as succeeding in competition, creating marketable photographs or simply capturing something that is "wall worthy," this presentation will provide tips a person will be able to utilize.

Prislipsky believes that winning images are a result of learning through experience and that learning often involves making mistakes. The material presented will cover the importance of subject matter, understanding what the image maker wants to communicate and how to get the message across to the viewer. She will discuss steps in learning to honestly self-critique, dealing with disappointment and simple post-processing steps that can improve a photograph.

The club judging will be submitted for the Gulf States Camera Club Counsel October contest, which is Photo Journalism (projected images and prints). Members may make up to four submissions.

NPPC welcomes new members who are interested in expanding their photography skills in a collegial and supportive environment. A one-year membership is $20.
