Hot Springs Village residents

recognized as 'Elves of the Year'

Hot Springs Village residents Linda Green and Jan McInerney were honored Dec. 7 as Elves of the Year by Friends of Small Group Therapy.

Green and McInerney worked all summer making handmade and decorated items that were sold at crafts fairs throughout the Village. Proceeds from the sales were the largest contribution to the gift fund this year.

The fund is used to buy things the 75 Small Group residents need but cannot afford. The items were beautifully wrapped as Christmas gifts by the Elves.

The fund is supported by individuals, church missions and businesses in the area.

Holli Browning, director of Small Group at 311 Whittington Ave., a nonprofit residential-care facility serving adults disabled by severe mental illness, presented Certificates of Appreciation to Green and McInerney at the Elves' wrapping party.

The two Villagers have been active with Friends of Small Group Therapy for more than 20 years.

Over the years, the group has raised more than $275,000 to help make the lives of the residents more enjoyable, especially at Christmas.

Donations are accepted year-round. For more information about becoming a Friend, call Browning at 501-623-3477 or Joyce Leeming, Friends' coordinator, at 501-922-0810.
