Dear editor:
I believe the idea of doing away with parking, widening the sidewalks and putting in bike lanes in our beautiful downtown area are really bad ideas.
Bikers are not interested in shopping. Where would you park your bike and then where would you carry packages?
Has any thought been given to just how suppliers would deliver their goods to the merchants in the downtown area? Let's give the struggling small businesses that are trying to compete with all the other shopping venues in our city a fair chance to thrive and survive.
I can't believe the city has actually paid for a study that suggests that we ruin our business in the downtown area.
How about a beautiful public pool in the area where the Majestic Hotel once stood? Let's widen our spectrum of visitors, not limit it to a small number of backpackers and bike riders. Are we not a retirement and resort area?
