The Village Art Club selected member Mary Homan as February Artist of the Month. Homan's two-piece farm scene is an oil painting from a Dorothy Dent design. It was her first venture into oil painting, which was made possible because of the gift of a set of oils from another VAC member and friend. Homan says she always dabbled in drawing and painting sporadically, but when she retired to the Village and joined the painting group, she became more serious about painting. She found a group of people who ended up being teachers, mentors and friends. While Homan usually works in acrylics and watercolors, she recently tried a couple of batiks and now oils. Her paintings can be viewed in the lobby of the Coronado Center through the middle of March.
