A Hot Springs man was arrested on felony charges early Friday in connection with an alleged shooting on New Year's Eve morning during which a local woman was struck in the leg.

Landon Kyle Davis, 19, who lists a Rocky Mountain Way address, was taken into custody around 1 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Hawthorne Street and Quapaw Avenue and charged with first-degree battery, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and aggravated assault, punishable by up to six years.

Davis appeared at 10:30 a.m. Friday via video before Garland County District Court Judge Meredith Switzer and pleaded not guilty to both charges. Switzer set his bond at $65,000 and scheduled a felony review hearing for Feb. 26 to determine if the charges will be bound over to Garland County Circuit Court.

Switzer also issued a court order barring Davis from any contact with the victim, 18, or the Lacey Street residence where the shooting allegedly occurred. Davis also had a misdemeanor warrant for harassing communication from the Garland County Sheriff's Department, punishable by up to one year in jail.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Sunday, shortly after 1:30 a.m., Hot Springs police responded to a residence in the 300 block of Lacey Street in reference to a shooting and upon arrival were directed to the female victim who was lying on the ground in front of a residence in the 100 block of Wood Street, just around the corner.

The victim had a gunshot wound to her upper right leg and was transported by LifeNet to the emergency room at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs for treatment.

A witness, 19, at the scene told police that Davis, who he knew, had arrived at his house on Lacey Street around 10:30 p.m. Saturday and he and Davis got into a physical fight, but agreed to "make peace" and Davis left.

He said that at around 1:20 a.m. Sunday, Davis returned to the residence with two other known male suspects, ages 19 and 18, and an unknown bi-racial female. The witness and Davis got into another fight outside the house and soon after it began the two male suspects reportedly grabbed the witness and pulled his shirt off.

The witness said several family members exited his house, including the female victim, and he saw the bi-racial female suddenly brandish a stun gun and then saw Davis was holding a handgun.

The witness said he saw Davis fire two shots from the handgun and one of the rounds hit the female victim in the leg. He said he felt "debris from the ground" hit his left arm after one of the shots.

Davis, the two other male suspects and the bi-racial female all ran to a green vehicle and fled from the scene after the shots were fired, the witness said, noting he sustained minor injuries to his hands and face during the fight with Davis and the others.

A warrant for the arrest of Davis on the felony charges was issued on Tuesday.

Davis was previously arrested on May 19, 2017, on charges of aggravated robbery, punishable by up to life in prison, and second-degree battery, punishable by up to six years, in connection with the Jan. 11, 2017, alleged attack and robbery of a 53-year-old man outside the man's home on Cones Road.

Davis, who had been free on $25,000 bond since Oct. 4, is set to stand trial on those charges on Feb. 7 this year.
