JESSIEVILLE-GLEN ROSE

GLEN ROSE -- Jessieville's senior boys walked away with a 58-51 victory over Glen Rose Friday night, but the junior boys fell by two to the junior Beavers, 42-40.

Glen Rose (7-6, 1-3) got things rolling early, taking an 18-14 lead over the Lions (12-3, 7-0) in the opening period, but Jessieville came back strong in the second to take a 30-28 lead into the break.

The Lions controlled the third quarter, outscoring the Beavers 12-9 for a 42-37 lead going into the final frame.

Tyler Holloway paced the Lions with 16 points, Chase Pederson and Alex Burleson added 11 each and Bryan Morgan had six.

"I thought the difference in the game was our toughness down the stretch," said Lions head coach Jared White. "We had multiple guys make plays. We took care of the ball and made our free throws down the stretch. They really keyed on Alex, and you can't say enough about how Tyler, Chase and Dalton stepped up in scoring the basketball tonight.

"We kept our composure in a situation where we could have lost it. I was very proud of that. We have a very tough week (this) week with Malvern and Arkadelphia."

The Lions host Malvern (11-3, 8-0) tonight at Jessieville Sports Arena.

* The junior Lions trailed 6-4 at the end of the first, but they were able to pull within one point as the teams went into the locker rooms, 15-14.

Glen Rose used a big third quarter to take a 31-23 lead going into the final frame, but Jessieville's 17-point fourth quarter was too little, too late as Glen Rose added 11 to secure the two-point win.

Carson Hair paced the junior Lions with 19 points, Landen Dailey added nine and Jarrett Davis had eight.

"You have to give credit to Glen Rose," said coach White. "They outplayed us in about every area. We lacked energy to start the game and played from behind the entire way. We made a good push at the end and I was proud of that, but we have to be ready to play and tonight we were not."
