Patrick, Lakeside roll over Panthers

Ashton Patrick matched Magnolia's entire team's scoring as Lakeside cruised to a 40-20 win at Magnolia Friday night.

Lakeside stretched a 16-2 opening quarter score to a 27-6 halftime lead. The Lady Rams (14-3, 6-1) added 11 in the third while giving up four to make it 38-11 with eight minutes to go. Magnolia (3-6, 1-5) attempted a comeback in the final frame, outscoring Lakeside 9-2 to set the final.

Patrick sank six 3-pointers on her way to a game-leading 20 points. Abby Mahoney added 10 points with eight rebounds, Chloe Porter put up four points with five steals and Lindsey Davis had seven assists with three points.

Ashanti Humbert paced Magnolia with 13 points.

Lakeside travels to De Queen (12-4, 6-1) for a conference matchup Tuesday.

* Lakeside's junior girls took down Camden Fairview, 42-32, on the road last week, moving to 12-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

The junior Lady Rams took a 10-8 lead in the opening period, but they used a 14-5 second quarter to carry an 11-point lead into the locker room, 24-13.

Both teams put up seven in the third for a 31-20 Lakeside lead entering the final frame. The junior Lady Cardinals outscored Lakeside in the final period, but the junior Lady Rams held on for the win.

Maddy Davenport and Adachi Igbokidi led Lakeside with nine points each, Erika Bittinger and Sarah Porter each adding eight. Ashley Gayle put up four, and Maddy Trusty had three.

The junior Lady Rams travel to Magnolia Thursday.

Lakeside's eighth-grade girls defeated Camden Fairview by 33 Thursday before turning in a 25-point blowout Saturday, both wins coming on the road.

Lakeside allowed two points by the eighth-grade Lady Cardinals in the first quarter as it rolled to an 11-2 lead after one that stretched into a 19-2 halftime spread. The eighth-grade Lady Rams added seven in the third while allowing four to make it 26-6 before taking a 14-1 run to close out the game in the fourth.

Sheridan Cross paced Lakeside with 10 points, Porter adding six. Davenport, Courtney Woolems, Vivian Mardis and Catriona Morcan put up four each.

Lakeside did not slow any as they traveled to White Hall Saturday, stretching a 7-1 first quarter lead to 14-4 at the break. Lakeside added 19 in the second half while allowing White Hall to score its final four points in the fourth period.

Porter again paced the eighth-grade Lady Rams with 12, Davenport adding seven and Morcan six.

Lakeside moved to 7-0 with the two wins.

Kennedy Brock paced Lakeside's seventh grade girls with 16 points in Saturday's 37-14 win at White Hall.

Lakeside took a 27-6 lead in the first half before putting the game away by outscoring the home team 10-8 in the second half.

Riley Orr put up 10 points for Lakeside, and Gracie Hardin added six.

JUNIOR HIGH

Hot Springs' junior girls took down a pair of conference foes last week, downing both Magnolia and El Dorado at home.

The junior Lady Trojans struggled early Thursday against El Dorado before battling back to take a 43-35 win.

Trailing 15-2 after six minutes, Hot Springs used a 17-7 run in the second to pull within three at the break, 22-19. The junior Lady Trojans continued to dominate in the second half, outscoring the junior Lady Wildcats in both quarters to earn the win.

Jaylia Reed paced Hot Springs with 14 points and Tamia Reed added 11. India Hudson put up nine points while grabbing eight rebounds, and Jurnee Hicks commanded the boards for the junior Lady Trojans with 10 whileshooting for six.

Thursday's win came close on the heels of Monday's 29-22 victory over the junior Lady Panthers.

Both teams struggled with offense in the opening quarter with Magnolia taking a 3-2 lead after six minutes, but the junior Lady Trojans battled back to take a 13-10 buffer into the break.

Hot Springs again struggled offensively after the break, putting up four points in the third frame, but rallied in the final period with 12 to secure the win.

Jaylia Reed led the home team with 20 points. Hicks added six.
