FAYETTEVILLE -- According to reports, the Arkansas Razorbacks and Indiana Hoosiers have scheduled a home-and-home series for the next two basketball seasons.
The first game will reportedly be played at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville on Nov. 18. The return game would be played at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind.
Arkansas was 23-12 overall with a 10-8 in the Southeastern Conference in 2017-18 for a second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Razorbacks were 26-10 and 12-6 in 2016-17.
Indiana finished the 2015-16 season 27-8 after a run to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. The Hoosiers are just 34-31 in the past two seasons.
Arkansas earns program-record
finish in Directors Cup standings
FAYETTEVILLE -- A national championship runner-up finish at the 2018 College World Series helped a program-record No. 16 finish for the Arkansas Razorbacks in the final 2017-18 Learfield Sports Directors Cup Standings.
Arkansas finished with 870.5 points in the rankings released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of America. It was the ninth time Arkansas finished in the top 25 in the past 11 years.
The Directors' Cup tracks the nation's most successful intercollegiate athletics programs for their on-field performances throughout the year. Arkansas has finished in the top 20 only seven times since the Director's Cup began 25 years ago.
The 14 Razorback teams scored the program's second-best point total in school history. Arkansas scored a school-record 912.5 points to finish No. 16 in 2014-15.
"Thanks to the outstanding efforts of our student-athletes, coaches and staff, the University of Arkansas has reaffirmed its position among the most successful intercollegiate athletics programs in the nation," said Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek. "As the nation's top scoring program among those with 19 or fewer sports, Arkansas has proven that it can achieve success at an elite level, while competing against other schools that feature more than 20 or 30 varsity sports."
OBU's Orekhov named
Scholar All-American
ARKADELPHIA -- Ouachita Baptist junior swimmer Artemii Orekhov, from Enerhodar, Ukraine, has been named a Scholar All-American by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America.
"The whole team is excited for Artemii to receive this award," said Ouachita Baptist head swim coach Steven Bostick. "It is well deserved and is a testament of what the university provides students both academically and athletically."
Orekhov is the first male swimmer at Ouachita in five years to reach the status of Scholar All-American. He is now the 10th male swimmer from Ouachita to be recognized by the CSCAA as a Scholar All-American since the 2010 season.
Orekhov is currently majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Management. The junior has accumulated a 3.6 grade point average in the classroom during his time at Ouachita.
In the pool this season, Orekhov broke the school record in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:00.70 and became the top qualifier in the 2018 New South Intercollegiate Conference Championships meet at Delta State in Cleveland, Miss., in February. He took home three top-10 finishes at the conference championships in the 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard individual medley and was a member of the 200-yard medley team.
