Village Rotary honors club members' service

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- The Rotary Club of Hot Springs Village recently honored club members who have earned recognition for their outstanding service, including the presentation of the "Rotarian of the Year" award.

"All annual award winners have made exceptional contributions to both the club and the community," states the press release. The Rotarian of the Year award went to Marvin Case. In making the presentation, President Steve Wright said, "Marvin does so much for the club that it's difficult to list only a few. Whenever there's a job to be done, Marvin is always one of the first to step up."

In accepting his recognition as Rotarian of the Year, Case expressed pleasure at being a member of such an esteemed group, adding, "It's an honor to serve the club." Case can often be found setting up the club's meeting room as sergeant at arms, serving as greeter or leading Rotary's Four-Way Test. Case has a background in telecommunications and joined the Rotary Club of Hot Springs Village in 2013.

Three of the awards were previously presented at the annual Change of Gavel dinner at Coronado Center. Maj. Gen. Tom Arwood, U.S. Army, retired, received the Clark Deem Award, named in honor of the man who, in 1983, was instrumental in establishing the Rotary Club in Hot Springs Village. Grants Committee Chair Gary Jacobs earned the Spirit of Rotary Award, and Pam Galloway won the very first Ross Johnson Award.

Rotary membership is open to all men and women, with guests welcome at the Hot Springs Village club, which meets in the Fireside Dining Room at Good Sam's, 121 Cortez Road, at 7 a.m. Thursdays.
