A Hot Springs woman who was arrested in March in a narcotics raid on her former residence was arrested again Monday morning after allegedly admitting to smoking meth in the presence of her 1-year-old son.

Stefany Pauline Shuffield, 26, who lists an Illinois Street address, was taken into custody around 9:30 a.m. Monday and charged with a felony count of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, punishable by up to six years in prison.

Shuffield remained in custody Tuesday on $2,500 bond and is set to appear today in Garland County District Court.

According to the probable cause affidavit, at around 5 p.m. March 3 Hot Springs police officers were dispatched to National Park Medical Center in reference to child abuse.

Shuffield had reportedly brought in her 1-year-old son and requested an examination to "check him for STDs, HIV and rabies."

Medical staff reportedly examined the child and located a bruise and an abrasion on the left side of his head.

The child was transported to Arkansas Children's Hospital and a urine test reportedly revealed the child tested positive for methamphetamine.

In an interview on March 27, Hot Springs police Detective Jarrett Cantrell asked Shuffield if she had smoked meth in the presence of her son, and she allegedly replied yes. When asked if her live-in boyfriend smoked meth in the presence of her son, she also allegedly replied yes.

She also reportedly admitted it had happened on more than one occasion.

On March 21, the 18th Judicial District East Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on Shuffield's former residence at 1801 Hobson Ave. and reportedly found Shuffield and her boyfriend inside the residence with illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Shuffield was arrested then on felony charges of possession of meth with purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is set for a disposition hearing on the charges in Garland County Circuit Court on Aug. 13.
